Download Bigfoot // Updates

(Version without the small tagline in the Header) Download: bigfoot-theme.txt
(Version with the small tagline in the Header) Download: bigfoot-theme-headertag.txt
(Classy Green Version with Disqus comments and automated tag cloud) Download: classy-bigfoot-theme.txt

Update 4 (12/18/08): I was alerted to a very curious issue whereby if the first tag is less than six characters, it would float to the left of the date rather than displaying below it.  I’ve fixed this issue.  Please let me know of anything else you may wonder about.

Update 3 (12/15/08): I altered the margins inside the .postcontent div so that text doesn’t get cut off by the posttypeimg overlapping the center and right column.  Also, I altered the padding on Link Titles for the same reason.  Please continue to send me your questions and comments.  I love hearing from you.

Update 2 (11/26/08): I’ve seen some good implementations including the little tagline in the header (works especially well for short blog titles and short taglines) so I’ve decided to offer both versions for download.

Update 1 (11/25/08): Changed the About section in the left sidebar and in the footer to be dynamically generated from your Tumblr {Description} rather than manually entered.  I removed the little tagline in the header because it wasn’t working with long titles and/or long descriptions.  I’m still messing with the header, however, this version is pretty airtight for now.  Lastly, I extended the footer height by another 50px to accomodate long {Descriptions} and other footer content.

Notes on Using Bigfoot

So it’s been a week and already I’m starting to see some implementations of Bigfoot across the Tumblrverse.  This post is meant to aid you in your usage of Bigfoot.

  1. I ask that you only keep the copyright credit at the very bottom of the page.  As for the about sections, those are yours (and are now dynamically generated from your {Description}).
  2. I’ve noticed a lot of people copying the links from the left sidebar into the footer, however, the links on the left sidebar have an added class called “greyline”, which will not look so hot in the footer.  Just copy the link URLs rather than the link div’s in order to get the look shown here.
  3. To customize the tag list, go to Heather River’s Tag Cloud Generator and select Font Size 16 for both Minimum and Maximum font size.  Limit to top 10 tags and sort by frequency.  Then just paste starting from <ul class=”tag-cloud”> to </ul>.

It would be a tough sell for a person to motivate the substantial assistance necessary for a serious, *safe* effort to tranquilize a bigfoot, if that person could not first provide clear, close-range, daylight video footage of a bigfoot, from more than one encounter.

Ape or Bigfoot?

“There have been so many sightings over the years, even if you throw out 95 percent of them, there ought to be some explanation for the rest. I think a hard-eyed look is absolutely essential.” — George Schaller

Bigfoot (Sasquatch)

Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, is an alleged ape-like creature purportedly inhabiting forests, mainly in the Pacific Northwest region of North America. Bigfoot is usually described as a large, hairy, bipedal humanoid. Many believers in its existence contend that the same or similar creatures are found around the world under different regional names, most prominently the Yeti of the Himalayas.
